Example of Punk Music Videos in a Narrative Style (Sum 41 - Pieces)

I picked out this video because at the moment we haven't yet chosen a song. This will either lead us to a 'R&B' genre or a 'Punk' genre. This song is firmly in the Punk genre. I believe this video demonstrates quite well how a video in the Punk genre doesn't neccessarily have to show in the video, the instruments being played in the song. This is something we may have to consider depending on our resources.
To do this, the video focuses solely on a narrative, forgetting any sort of performance at all. It shows just the lead singer walking alone through the streets, as "life passes him by". The camera stays with him for most of the song going through close up shots and several changes in location. The nature of this video is strictly dependent on the lyrics of the song, the key themes being: loneliness and depression almost. These themes are then transferred to the video through mise en scene of costume with dark clothing and hair. The song could almost be deemed a ballad so therefore this is why a band in the punk genre (stereotypically known for jumping around whilst playing their instruments) can change direction to do a video like this.
The video shows we could do a punk song and it doesn't always have to involve band performances with instruments, this is something I am keen to bear in mind if we choose the punk genre.
