Current Chart Positions

I was searching for the current chart positions (for singles). This image shows the top 16 at this moment in time - what I note is that with the exception of No. 7 "Kings of Leon - Radioactive" there are no songs representing the indie genre. Even then, Kings of Leon are more rock based, so it could be said that indie is not popular at with any audiences at present.

If you look at the artist that are there, you have Travie McCoy, Eminem/Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Taio Cruz and Tinie Tempah that are all seen as artists from the RNB/Rap genre. This is overwhelming preference in terms of genre, this maybe because record labels are 'cashing in' on this wave that is currently going on. Indie is not representated by an artist there possibly because the music is more "independent" i.e. underground and not mainstream and appreciated by a band's fanbase and not general audience members.
